Procedure

Breast implants removal, or explant surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure to remove breast implants. It may be performed alone to remove implants (with or without capsule removal), or combined with a breast lift (mastopexy) to address sagging, or as a breast revision/exchange to replace old implants with new ones.

The purpose is for removal due to medical complications (rupture, capsular contracture), breast implant illness symptoms, or aesthetic changes. Removed implants often leave behind stretched skin, so a lift is frequently combined to reshape and tighten the breasts.
